Terms of Service.

The short version: pre-order a screen with a refundable deposit or pay in full at today’s price; we confirm the balance and shipping before anything ships; be decent to the people on the other side of the glass.

Draft. This text is pending legal review and will change before launch. Questions: [email protected].

1. Who we are

Sillboard is operated by [COMPANY — TBD: Canadian or Portuguese entity] (“Sillboard”, “we”). Contact: [email protected]. These terms cover the website at sillboard.ad, the pre-order store, the newsletter, and the host, scanner and partner applications at sillboard.cloud (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them.

2. What Sillboard is

Sillboard sells a thin, window-mounted screen that shows advertising to the street and pays its host a share of the advertising revenue through the Sill Points programme. Advertisers buy time on neighbourhood screens; passers-by can verify that a screen is really where it says it is. The product is in pre-order. Specifications, earnings estimates and launch dates on the site are forecasts, not promises; the estimator on the front page is an illustration.

3. Pre-orders

You can pre-order in two ways, without an account:

  • Reserve your spot in line. A refundable deposit per screen (US$100 at the time of writing; the live amount is shown in the store) holds your place. It is credited toward the screen. The final price, the balance and the shipping charge are confirmed to you by e-mail before we ship, and nothing further is charged without your agreement.
  • Pay in full. You pay today’s screen price and that price is locked for your order whatever it does later. Shipping is not included: it is calculated at fulfillment, from your address and the carrier’s rate at the time, and confirmed before we ship.

A “Bigger screen” reservation is a deposit only: no size, price or date is fixed until we have sized it with you. Prices are shown in US dollars; Stripe Checkout may show your local currency, and our bank settles in Canadian dollars. Pre-orders are limited to twenty screens per order. We may decline or cancel an order (for example a suspected fraudulent payment) and refund anything paid.

Refunds and cancellations, including the deposit, are governed by the Refund & Deposit policy.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. A receipt comes from Stripe; an order confirmation comes from us. Taxes and import duties, where applicable to your country, are confirmed together with shipping before we ship, unless the store says they are included.

5. Orders, accounts and the claim link

A guest order is keyed by your e-mail address and a secret claim link in your confirmation. Keep that link private: anyone holding it can attach the order to an account. Creating an account later with the same, verified e-mail address attaches your orders automatically. You are responsible for the security of your account credentials.

6. The newsletter

Joining the list sends you a welcome note and, afterwards, occasional notes when there is something real to share. Every note carries an unsubscribe link, and mail clients may offer one-click unsubscribe. Order and account e-mails are transactional and are sent regardless of newsletter status.

7. Hosting a screen

Hosts agree to the placement rules that ship with the screen (window placement, brightness, hours, blocked content categories, local compliance). The screen enforces some of them; you are responsible for the rest, including any permission you need from a landlord, building or municipality. Earnings depend on advertiser demand and are not guaranteed. Separate host terms will be presented in the host application before the first payout.

8. Acceptable use

Do not probe, overload or scrape the Service, submit false verifications, or place orders you do not intend to honour. Advertising submitted through Sillboard Local must be lawful, truthful and within the content categories the host allows; we review and may refuse any creative.

9. Intellectual property

Sillboard, the window mark, Sill Points and the site’s design and text are ours. You may not use them without written permission. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Service and the pre-order information are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

11. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. Material changes to an open pre-order are notified by e-mail, and you may cancel for a full refund if you do not accept them.

12. Governing law

[TBD with the entity decision: the laws of a Canadian province, or of Portugal.] Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where they live.
